Replacement Nut (Bone, Tusq or Carbon) - Over time the slots in a nut wear down causing buzzing on the frets. When this happens the nut should be replaced

Even in new guitars soft plastic nuts tend to be sticky, making the guitar hard to keep in tune. Replacing the nut with hard bone, carbon or Tusq will make tuning and keeping the guitar in tune easier.

Carbon and Tusq nuts also contain natural lubrication which helps the strings stay in tune, especially on a guitar with a tremolo. Carbon and Tusq nuts are available in several popular profiles however when a profile is not available to suit a particular instrument a custom bone nut needs to be made.

Replacement Saddle (Bone or Tusq) - Replacing a plastic saddle or a loose fitting saddle is one of the most effective ways to improve the tone of an acoustic guitar.

A well fitted saddle made from a dense, resonant material will transfer much more of the energy from the strings into the guitar leading to increased volume and improved tone and balance.

Carbon and Tusq nuts are available in several popular profiles however when a profile is not available to suit a particular instrument a custom bone saddle needs to be made.

Bridge Removal and Reglue - There is over 70kg of string tension pulling on the bridge of an acoustic guitar. It is no surprise then that over time the bridge may start to lift. This not only looks bad but if left it can lead to excessive warping of the soundboard known as ‘bridge belly’

Generally a loose bridge cannot be successfully fixed without removing it from the guitar. Our luthiers remove the bridge then clean, reshape and reglue it to the guitar. This service also includes a Basic Setup.

Replace Electric Bridge or Saddles - Upgrading the bridge or saddles on a guitar or bass can significantly improve its tone and sustain. Metals such as steel and brass are denser and have superior resonant properties. When used as a saddle or bridge these properties increase the sustain of a string when it is plucked and also give the note a clearer tone.

The saddles should also be replaced when the adjustment screws become rusted or seized. Fulcrum tremolo bridges should be replaced when the guitar loses its tuning after the tremolo is used.

We carry a wide range of replacement bridges and saddles to suit most popular models.
